Kuwait Airport GA terminal
A steady increase in business jet activity in the Gulf region has lead to an increasing demand for purpose built facilities at Kuwait Airport. The brief was to provide an apron, terminal, hangars (for aircraft parking), shaded storage, GSE facilities as well as landside parking on a self contained site at the airport. The aircraft mix ranges from small turbo props through long range corporate jets such as G5s to B727 and BBJs on a regular basis to larger VIP configured wide bodied aircraft.
In 2004 a consortium comprising Jet Aviation Services of Zurich and Kuwaiti developer KUCM won a tender to develop a general aviation terminal and attendant infrastructure on a BOT basis. Mott MacDonald and Gulf Consult helped prepare the bid documents including the initial concept design and demand forecast.
Our primary role on the project was to plan and design the operational areas including a 100,000sqm apron, hangars, to be developed in phases for parking, storage and line maintenance, support on the operational needs within the terminal building and support GSE facilities.
