Projects
New Quito International Airport
The existing airport at Quito in Ecuador is due to be replaced by a new airport providing significantly improved facilities and financed on a Build, Own, Operate and Transfer (BOOT) basis. The existing airport is surrounded by residential development as well as mountainous terrain and located at an altitude of 2,808m. Proposals for the new airport, to be located in the flatter area, to the east of Quito at an altitude of 2,400m will allow traffic to grow from 2006 levels of 3.8 mppa to 7.5 mppa by 2030. The plans are to open the new airport by 2009.
Mott MacDonald was engaged by Export Development Canada, US Exim, OPIC to provide the Lenders with technical advisory services on all technical, operational and contractual matters relating to the existing and new airports. Our role includes pre-financial close, lenders monitoring during construction and operational monitoring until commitments to the lenders have expired.
