Buffalo Niagara International Airport Runway Extension and Rehabilitation
As part of the Niagara Frontier Transportation Authority's (NFTA) Airport Improvement Program, Runway 5-23 and Taxiway "A" at Buffalo Niagara International Airport (BNIA) were extended 1,000 feet and rehabilitated for the full length (9,000 feet). All in-pavement lighting and approach lighting systems were replaced, two tunnels were rehabilitated, NAVAIDS were improved, site drainage was improved, and security issues were addressed
Hatch Mott MacDonald was responsible for providing all construction monitoring services including project management, full time inspection, cost control and schedule review services. Construction inspection activities addressed embankment construction, P401 (asphalt) and P501 (concrete) pavements, full replacement of in-pavement edge and approach lighting systems and circuits, new airfield signs and circuits, NAVAIDS improvements, drainage work and site restoration work. We provided technical assistance to evaluate changes during construction related to runway lighting systems, airfield signage and various civil/site issues. |
