Brasov Airport, Romania – Technical Consultant
Brasov-Ghimbav Airport is a new Greenfield airport planned to serve the city of Brasov in Central Romania and the region of Transylvania. The airport is to be designed and built by Intelcan. Mott MacDonald has undertaken the role of Technical Consultant for the funders of the project under instruction from EMG Suisse.
As Technical Consultant, Mott MacDonald has conducted due diligence on the feasibility study for the proposed airport, covering traffic forecasts, financial forecasts, operating costs and airport charges. This has included discussions with local government, commerce and tourism authorities and prospective airline customers to assess likely traffic demand, alongside benchmarking of other Central and Eastern European Airports to assess revenue and cost forecasts and the suitability of the proposed charging regime.
Mott MacDonald has also performed due diligence over the airport design and construction costs and has assessed the airport site for its suitability for the planned facility. Environmental due diligence has also been conducted to ensure the airport plan meets all European Union legislation.
